Managing Director
Andy is responsible for the day to day running of the business including Sales and Operations and splits his time between our 3 offices.
He started his career in Financial Services at the Head Office of Scottish Widows in 1989 but has been working in the IFA sector since 2000.
Brought up in Edinburgh, Andy is now settled in South Queensferry with his wife, 3 children and 4 dogs. When he is not working he enjoys football , holidays in the sun, cold beer and long walks on the beach.

Richard joined the Financial Services Industry in 2001, having graduated from Glasgow University with an Honours degree in Economics. Richard joined in 2010 from one of the UK's largest wealth managers and was appointed a Director in 2012. Richard has experience of dealing with private clients as well as companies advising employers and employees on various aspects of financial planning.
Richard believes the key to providing high quality Financial Advice and to ensure the retention of clients is to fully understand his client's circumstances and goals and ensure the appropriate solution meets their long term objectives.
Away from the office Richard is a sports enthusiastic still trying to play football and cricket in his advancing years. With an Australian wife, Richard also makes fairly frequent trips 'down under' visiting family and friends.

Alan is a Director & Chartered Financial Planner with over 25 years experience advising both Corporate and Individual clients. He is also a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society (FPFS).
His main base is in Kirkcaldy but he also works from our Edinburgh and Galashiels offices advising clients across central Scotland. Alan joined the McHardy Group in 2015 after 9 years with a National IFA latterly as Regional Sales Director. Prior to this he was Financial Services Director of a regional Brokerage.
Alan enjoys fishing when not working or spending time with family.

Joe has worked in the financial services profession for over 22 years, with 14 years as a Financial Planner. As well as being a Chartered Financial Planner, Joe is also a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society (FPFS) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).
He has seen how much good financial planning can change people’s lives, and he loves to really understand what motivates people and help them make informed decisions.
Joe is married to Carolyn, and they have two young children, Isla – a gymnast and novelist in the making, and Aran - the greatest football and dinosaur enthusiast ever. He loves spending time with his family, is a keen cook, runner and musician who enjoys reading to relax

Jonathan joined McHardy Financial from Tilney in February 2022 to lead our Aberdeen office .
A Chartrered Financial Planner with over 23 years experience in the industry , he is passionate about financial planning and ensuring the client experience is second to none .
Outside of work . Jonathan is a massive music fan and is married to Joanne. They live in Aberdeen with their two children .

Iain has over 20 years’ experience in financial services, 15 years of those providing advice and helping clients with their financial planning goals. As well as being a Chartered Financial Planner he is also a Chartered Associate of the London Institute of Banking and Finance.
Specialising in Lifestyle Financial Planning, Cashflow modelling and Retirement Planning, Iain takes a keen interest in his clients, ensuring he understands their financial needs and objectives. Iain works mostly with individuals & business owners helping them build their retirement funds and plan their income in retirement.
Iain lives in Edinburgh and is married with two young sons. They enjoy spending time together as a family.

Mark is a Chartered Financial Planner with over 13 years’ experience helping clients make important financial decisions and achieve their goals.
An Economics graduate who has diligently pursued professional qualifications; now a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society (FPFS) and holder of the STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) Certificate for Financial Services.
Mark has gained great experience as a financial planner at LIFT-Financial Ltd and also TCAM Asset management (whom became later part of Seven Investment Management/7IM).
Outside of work Mark loves spending time with his family, discovering good food and music and running in beautiful Scotland with his Edinburgh Athletic Club team mates. He also enjoys making regular trips to see his beloved Newcastle United.

Stuart has over 20 years experience in Financial services working in the borders and joined McHardy Financial in December 2017 and is Head of our Galashiels office providing independent financial advice to clients across the Borders and the rest of the UK.
Stuart has experience of advising private clients and companies across all of their financial planning requirements.
Stuart enjoys rugby and after a long playing career in the Borders. He lives in St Boswells with his family and two dogs

Richard has over 35 years’ experience in Financial Services with Particular expertise in the Investment Management industry and building relationships with professional connections such as Financial Planning Advisers, Accountants and Lawyers. Richard retired in June 2019 from Brooks Macdonald, a leading investment management services provider where he held the position of Regional Business Development Director and was a member of the UK Leadership Group.

Louise has many years experience within financial services, including working for large providers as well as IFA’s in support roles and practice management. Specialising in all aspects of customer care and services, as well as the operational side of the business, making sure our clients are well looked after comes naturally.
Louise is married with grown up children and three grandchildren. She also has two Cockapoo pups who keep her busy! Louise enjoys cooking, socialising and the countryside although says she is a bit of a city girl at heart and wouldn’t say no to a cocktail.

Group Finance Manager
Gail has worked in the financial services industry for over 20 years and oversees all the income being paid to the Company from more than 200 providers and provides support to the Directors and Advisers regarding the Company revenue, projected targets for the Company and the Advisers and all Company Accounts. Gail also assists in HR matters and compiles all reports for submission to the Financial Conduct Authority.
Gail is married with 2 grown up stepsons and 1 granddaughter, Gail also has a 2-year-old show Cocker Spaniel called Millie, who keeps her quite busy ! To relax Gail enjoys walks with the dog, reading, cooking, and sitting in the garden with a nice glass of wine

Financial Planning Director
Mark became a Financial Adviser at the age of 22, some 28 years later, he still enjoys the advising clients. Firstly, he likes people; from first meetings and getting to know clients, to developing long term relationships, where you can build a professional friendship and, most importantly, trust. Secondly, he loves helping clients to achieve their goals, while protecting them from some of the worst things that can happen.
When not advising Mark love films and music as well as golf, but the game doesn’t always like him back! He also has enjoyed some sailing trips in the last couple of years and is also working to regain his mountain biking prowess.

Andrew is a Financial Planner focused on helping clients answer the big questions in life and coaching them on their journey. He is dedicated to providing peace of mind, clarity, and confidence, and strives for the achievement of your goals. He began his career at JP Morgan Private Bank before transitioning to financial planning following a spell in tourism.
Andrew has diligently pursued his professional qualifications to bolster our client’s trust and faith.
Outside of work, Andrew is a keen traveller and is happiest in the outdoors atop a Munro. In a past life, he led private tours throughout the Scottish Highlands. He also enjoys rugby, football (Liverpool FC), and plays golf at Bruntsfield Links in Edinburgh.

Brian joined the financial sector in 1990 initially working with Insurance Companies and Banks before setting up Peebles Financial Ltd in 2002, which is now part of McHardy Private Wealth Ltd. Whilst Brian retains his financial advisory permissions, he is now mainly a consultant within the business, supporting the company directors, management team and financial advisors for the ultimate benefit of our clients.

Tom recently stepped back from his position as Financial Planner with over 40 years’ experience and now focuses on helping mentor and develop McHardy Private Wealth’s younger members ensuring a successful pathway to full Financial Planner status.
.Tom also works closely with the directors to grow and develop business across the company in the Scottish Borders and across the central belt including Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Yana has over 10 years of experience working in the Financial Services Industry, with the majority of this time spent looking after the clients of Peebles Financial Ltd. Yana lives in West Lothian and is delighted to see her clients at their home as well as in the Edinburgh office. She considers long term financial planning to be essential for every household. Her degree in Psychology provides the firm with additional skills, all of which help us support our clients.
In her spare time, Yana enjoys spending time with her husband Ruaridh and their two boys. Yana prefers the quiet life with occasional adrenalin filled activities like shark diving, skydiving and bungee jumping.

Douglas joined us in May 2019 from Chiene and Tait Finanacial Planning. Douglas looks after clients across Perthshire , Fife and Edinburgh and specialises in retirement and investment advice for personal and corporate clients.
He lives in Kirkcaldy with his wife and young son and in his spare time he enjoys sea fishing.

Andrew joined the McHardy Group as an Independent Financial Adviser in March 2024 providing advice on Investment, Pensions and Protection.
Andrew has working in finance for around 20 years and the last 13 years as a Financial Adviser. Having held positions with EIS Financial services which was part of the Teaching union giving Andrew in depth knowledge of the teaching and higher education pension schemes. Andrew joins us from Phil Anderson Financial Services.
Outside work Andrew is married with 2 children and coaches cycling and Snowsports with local clubs on a regular basis.

Independent Financial Adviser
Andrew joined McHardy Financial in December 2013 as an Independent Financial Adviser, providing advice on Savings and Investments, Protection and Pension Planning.
Andrew began his career in Financial Services back in 1984, spending the next 18 years in various advisory roles with Refuge Assurance in the home service sector of the industry. He then transferred his skills to the Bancassurance sector, working as a Financial Planning Manager, both tied and independent, for the next 11 years with Lloyds TSB, RBS and until recently AXA Wealth in partnership with Clydesdale Bank.
Hailing from, and still living in Banff, Andrew travels across the North East and is happy to meet clients in our Aberdeen offices or in their own homes. He feels that some clients feel more comfortable in their own environment and this allows him the opportunity to “get to know you better”, making his advice tailored to each clients’ individual needs.
Andrew is married with 2 children, both growing up far too quickly. His main interest away from work and home is golf, which he enjoys playing to a reasonable standard and has been a member of his local club, Duff House Royal, for over 40 years.

Kevin joined the McHardy Group in January 2007 as an Independent Financial Adviser. Before joining the company he ran his own Financial Services firm for 10 years, and prior to this he was a partner in another IFA firm for 7 years. Prior to that, he trained and became a Senior Consultant at Royal Life and Life Association of Scotland for a 5 year period.
The main areas of business Kevin deals with are Pensions (individual and corporate), Investments, Inheritance Tax Planning and Life Assurance.

After graduating university with a First-Class Honours Degree in Financial Services, Lewis began his career in financial planning with a clear focus: helping people navigate life’s big decisions, whether that’s planning for retirement, managing investments, protecting loved ones, or passing on wealth efficiently. He has a sound knowledge of using cash flow modelling with clients and takes pride in simplifying complex areas of advice. Lewis enjoys building long-term relationships/professional friendships with clients to support their evolving goals at every stage of life.
Outside of work, after retiring from rugby, Lewis enjoys golfing, going to the gym, watching any sport he can get away with and spending quality time with his wife and young son. He also has a love for music and enjoys playing, listening, and going to live gigs.

Based near Berwick-Upon-Tweed, Mark brings more than 30 years of experience in pensions, investments, and tax-efficient financial planning – but it’s his connection with people that really sets him apart.
“Money doesn’t buy happiness,” he says, “but it gives you the choice of happiness. My role is to help clients use it to build the life they want.”
For Mark, financial planning is about far more than numbers on a page. He believes that understanding how people think and feel about money is essential to creating a plan that genuinely supports their goals.
“It’s almost a form of counselling,” he explains. “You’re helping clients understand their relationship with money – what drives them, what worries them, what gives them security. Once you understand that, the technical side becomes much more meaningful.”
Over his career, Mark has guided clients through major life milestones, from building businesses to planning retirements and passing on wealth to future generations. His advice is known for being straightforward, empathetic, and focused on long-term outcomes rather than short-term trends.
Outside work, Mark spends time out walking the Northumbrian hills with his wife and 2 dogs, running, reading, listening to music and cooking.

Pam joined the McHardy Group in November 2011 as an Independent Financial Adviser. Over the years Pam has helped many of her clients achieve peace of mind when it comes to their finances. In her spare time, Pam is an enthusiastic Business Adviser for Young Enterprise Grampian and has played an active role on the Young Enterprise Grampian Board since 2015. Pam is also a Trustee of the John Gordon Charitable Trust and the first lady Committee Member of The Royal Northern University Club in Aberdeen.

Richard joined McHardy Private Wealth in 2026, from Buchanan & Associates in Stonehaven. He has over 20 years’ experience as an adviser, delivering client-first financial guidance focused on simplifying investment plans and always acting in his clients’ best interests. He builds clear, practical financial plans tailored to each client’s goals, prides himself on a responsive service and transparent communication, and aims to make complex financial decisions as straightforward as possible.
Seeing his clients achieve their objectives, whatever they may be, and being part of that journey is his main motivation.
Outside work Richard enjoys eating out, short city breaks, visiting galleries, collecting Art and reading. A keen interest in horology, he recently joined the British Watch & Clock Makers Association. He can also sometimes be found climbing a hill or Kayaking in a loch.

Neil has been advising clients as an Independent Financial adviser in Edinburgh and Aberdeen area since 1995. In 2010, he set up his own co-owned financial services firm (M3W Wealth Management partnership). Being forward thinking and having succession planning in mind, he wanted to find a home for his valued clients, and as a result his client bank merged with McHardy Private Wealth Ltd in April 2025. An ongoing financial service will be provided, based out of their main office in the centre of Edinburgh in Charlotte Square.
Neil is an experienced Wealth Manager with a 30-year track record in all aspects of financial planning. Neil really enjoys the client relationships he has built over the years and has literally grown up with these clients and their families over the years.
Away from business Neil is interested in most sports, having played rugby for Heriots RFC, North & Midlands district and age group rugby for Scotland U19 & 21. He also played cricket for Heriots Cricket Club in Edinburgh, and is a member of Tantallon golf club in North Berwick, having played many of the great courses we are lucky enough to have in Scotland.
He has three grown up children and lives in South Queensferry. His other interests are trips away to watch sport, city breaks and enjoying food and drink in the company of good friends, along with enjoying every moment that life has to offer..

Based in East Calder, just outside Edinburgh, Luke brings 25 years of experience in financial services – 18 of them as an adviser – with particular expertise in pensions and financial planning for business owners.
Luke started his career at Scottish Widows, where he spent seven years building deep technical knowledge in pensions alongside some of the industry's leading specialists. He went on to work directly with clients from 2008, moving into independent advice in 2013. He's known for combining technical rigour with a genuine interest in what matters most to each client.
What drives him is helping people get to where they want to be. "You get to see the results of the work you're doing," he says. "Helping someone retire five years early, or giving them outcomes way beyond what they'd expected – that's what it's about."
Outside work, he's a Newcastle United season ticket holder and a father of four – which, he'll tell you, means he's "a full-time taxi driver!"

Malcolm became part of the growing McHardy Private Wealth team based in Aberdeen, in April 2025, and continues to advise and work with clients in the North East of Scotland and Edinburgh.
High levels of personal and professional service, has and remains central to Malcolm’s advisory approach and ethos by supporting clients in their life’s journey and every changing financial landscape.
Married, with 3 daughters, Malcolm retains a keen interest in various outdoor pursuits, including Skiing, Kayaking and Cycling, which keeps him connected to the wider world and the importance of that life/work balance, in his professional and personal connections.
